John and
Barbara have been involved in WEOS from 1974 to 2000. Barbara first joined the chorus
and John was quickly volunteered as set designer and
builder. Commencing in 1962, the Society has risen from strength to strength, producing a wide variety of opera and operetta, including most of Gilbert and Sullivan's, others by Offenbach, Donizetti, Puccini, Verdi and even, Wagner's Flying Dutchman. See the -List of Shows- Many of the
shows have been performed before prestigious
-Guests of
Honour- In the
early years, the shows were put on in school halls. In 1975,
the Society was fortunate to be able to work, and continues
to work, in the Farrer Theatre of Eton College. Other venues
have included the former Planet Theatre in Slough, and less
frequently, the Wilde Theatre in Bracknell. |
